Severní Amerika bez IPv4 adres: ARIN hlásí „zero“

Minulý čtvrtek se stala dlouho očekávaná událost v postupném docházení IPv4 adres, totiž severoamerický registr ARIN ohlásil totální vyčerpání. V současné době tedy už v USA nelze sehnat oficiální cestou žádné IPv4 adresy. Shrneme si, co všechno této významné události ve světě IPv4 předcházelo.

V únoru 2011 byly rozděleny poslední bloky registru IANA. O dva měsíce později oznámil faktický konec IPv4 i registr pro region Asie-Pacific – APNIC. Evropa se do obdobné situace dostala až v září 2012. Oba tyto regiony nicméně ještě stále nějaké adresy mají, protože poslední blok /8 rozdělují velmi zvolna po /22 (1024 IPv4 adres) blocích na člena.

V dubnu loňského roku se do podobné situace dostal i severoamerický region a o měsíc později i region latinskoamerický. Naši západní kolegové nicméně zvolili trochu jiný přístup. V Latinské Americe si stanovili hranici poloviční, tedy /9 a v obou regionech se rozhodli, že po překročení dolního prahu nebudou veliké alokace znemožňovat, ale pouze je budou striktněji posuzovat. Tento hlavní rozdíl způsobil, že oba tyto regiony se mohou dopracovat až k absolutní nule, což se také ARINu povedlo. Tento stav je v regionu Asie-Pacifik vzhledem k počtu členů, kteří mohou nárokovat oněch 1024 adres (/22), nemožný a v Evropě je řekněme zatím velmi nepravděpodobný.

Podle současných odhadů to zatím vypadá, že podobnou situaci jako u severních sousedů lze v Latinské Americe očekávat až někdy v roce 2017, ačkoliv je v současné době v registru LACNICu jen něco málo přes 2 milióny nealokovaných IPv4 adres. Inu tento region je alokačně skutečně velmi slabý. Pořád platí, že nejlépe jsou na tom Afričané, kteří mají zásobu adres přibližně do roku 2018. Tohle může být pro naše severoamerické kolegy trochu frustrující. Celkově je totiž na světě ještě cca 68 miliónů volných IPv4 adres, ale oni už se k nim jednoduše nedostanou.

Zůstává tedy už jen jediná naděje v podobě startu protokolu IPv6. Ten zatím nijak oslnivě nenastupuje, i když není to také úplně zlé. Například podle statistik Google se již přes IPv6 připojuje téměř 9 % uživatelů, což v je v absolutních číslech obrovské číslo. Tak jen doufejme, že si tato křivka udrží svou růstovou tendenci.

Ale proč ty poslední tři roky znamenaly značný pokrok? Právě proto, že IPv4 adresy začaly docházet. Kdyby se nějaké další IPv4 adresy uvolnily, veškerý pokrok to zase zamrazí, protože použití IPv4 bude zase jednodušší.
